ABOUT
Flynn's artistic vision is fuelled by nostalgia and reflection.
His work establishes a meditative approach and invites viewers to reflect on the patterns within their own lives, embracing both stability and fluidity that shape our shared human experience. The forms within his work emerge and recede which suggests we are in a state of becoming and never static.
His art bridges the past with the present and evokes place and time, love and loss.
Each piece commits to a single trajectory of form and colour, and occupies the canvas in an immersive experience. Rich, red hues are born from his unique process of layering turpentine and oil paint. By building the timber frames and stretching the canvas by hand, Flynn crafts his art and becomes one with the process.
"From my hands, each piece once mine; one day will lean against a wall in someone’s apartment somewhere and I'll smile."
